A Charleston Cultural Exchange
A new kind of cultural connection platform for artists and potential hosts in the Charleston area, Maestro & Muse is designed for discerning hosts who want to be more than landlords — individuals who value connection, conversation, and contribution to the arts. Benefit from personal and cultural interaction without having to leave home.
Are you a longtime Charleston homeowner with extra space — a carriage house, guest suite, or tucked-away apartment? If so, you may be uniquely positioned to help nurture Charleston’s thriving creative spirit — not by donating money, but by offering something far more intimate than: your hospitality.

Why Maestro & Muse?
Unlike Airbnb or short-term rentals, Maestro & Muse connects you with curated artists, musicians, writers, and cultural guests who are in Charleston for fellowships, performances, research, or residencies. This is not a transactional arrangement — it’s relational. A shared glass of wine after a rehearsal. A late-night exchange of ideas in the garden. Quiet respect when privacy is needed, and warm companionship when it’s not.
We welcome hosts who:
- Have an unused suite, guest house, or private room
- Are not primarily interested in rental income, but human connection
- Support or participate in organizations like Spoleto Festival USA, Charleston Symphony, the Gibbes Museum, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, or the Preservation Society of Charleston (to name a few)
- Live near CofC, MUSC, or The Citadel, and are open to hosting visiting artists, lecturers, or couples
- May belong to spritual communities like the Unitarian Church, Circular Congregational..
What You Offer
- A safe, respectful home-away-from-home for a vetted artist or cultural guest
- A 1-month (or longer) hosting commitment — no nightly turnover or cleaning fees
- A willingness to connect in small ways — occasional meals, shared stories, garden chats
What You Receive
- A meaningful relationship with a creative individual or couple
- A front-row seat to artistic life in Charleston
- A sense of purpose, generosity, and participation in the living arts
- Optional small stipend or cost-sharing for expenses, if desired
Let’s Start a Conversation
We’re building Maestro & Muse as a boutique cultural connector, starting with Charleston and expanding outward. If this stirs something in you — whether you’re in I’On, Ansonborough, near Hampton Park, in Mt. Pleasant’s Old Village or West Ashley’s Old Windermere, South of Broad, The Crescent, even Sullivan’s Island or Wild Dunes — we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t have to be a patron in the traditional sense. Just someone who wants to open a door — and maybe a heart — to a story unfolding in real time.
Be a Patron of Presence
Join Maestro & Muse.
Together, we’ll turn empty space into meaningful place.
